i may also start getting back into reading moby-dick, picking back off at ch 19. i need to pull through because this book got me hyperfixated on WHALES of all things. WHALES. curse you ishmael for passing your autism onto me.
...anyways did you know sperm whales are named so due to the white waxy substance produced in their heads named spermaceti? 'twas used a lot back in the 19th century (alongside ambergris, also found from sperm whales) and thus, they were a popular target for whalers?
(and also their scientific name roughly means 'whale with big head' which i find hilarious.)
otherwise, not much is super interesting. i may post a reading log when i get done ch 20... who knows!
well! first week of sophomore year, and it went.. pretty alright tbh. except for the part where my dorm was like blazing hot. and my desk is inaccesible.
my classes this year so far are:
- biopsychology
- sociology of the family
- feminist theories and perspectives
- american history up to 1865
